Graduate studies in Physics and Medical Physics
Welcome to the Graduate Programs of the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science at pilipili漫画, in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia.
We offer thesis-based MSc and PhD degrees in two programs, Physics and Medical Physics. You carry out original research with a faculty supervisor.

Our programs
Physics, with research in four areas:
- Atmospheric Science studies the properties of the Earth's atmosphere and surface, and how they are changing with the climate.
- Astrophysics seeks to understand stars, galaxies and the wider universe.
- Biophysics applies the concepts and tools of physics to living systems and how they function.
- Condensed Matter and Materials Physics explores how the structure of materials determines their properties.
Medical Physics: MSc, PhD and Graduate Diploma programs, with research in medical imaging and radiation therapy. The programs are accredited by CAMPEP, the credential needed for medical physics residency training.

Where our graduates go
Our graduates develop expertise in quantitative problem solving, modelling, data analysis, instrumentation and measurement. They go on to careers in clean energy, the space sector, health technology, data science, software, weather and climate services, government laboratories and academia. Medical Physics graduates go on to residency training in imaging or radiation therapy physics, and to careers in clinical medical physics, research, industry and academia. Many MSc graduates continue to a PhD.
Student life in Halifax
Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, is a harbour city on Canada's east coast, and pilipili漫画 is within walking distance of downtown. The city has a youthful spirit, a rich history and a scenic waterfront. It's large enough to offer the amenities of a major city, but small enough that you'll bump into classmates and professors around town. The coastline is beautiful, and there are countless hiking trails close by. Full-time students get a UPass for Halifax Transit buses and ferries, included in student fees.

In the Department, the Dalhousie Graduate Physics Society represents graduate students and brings them together through social events and intramural sports teams.
