The front porch has always been the place for welcoming family and neighbours into our homes for conversation, activities, and support. Dalhousie has many such thresholds, all of which are helping to build stronger, more prosperous communities.

2025 Aurum Award winners

The Aurum Awards celebrate Dalhousie alumni whose innovation, leadership, and community engagement make a global impact. This year’s four recipients are trailblazers in exploration, invention, and advocacy.

Following his heart

For over 60 years, cardiac surgeon Don Hill (MD’60, LLD’87) has devoted himself to developing life-saving technologies, advancing medical research, and supporting postdoctoral research. The Dalhousie 2025 Golden Eagle Award Lifetime Achievement Award recipient talked with Dal Magazine about that impressive legacy and the most rewarding aspects of his philanthropy at work.
