Master of Social Work 鈥� L'nuey Program (New)

This notice is to let you know of a forthcoming Master of Social Work (MSW) program centered in Mi鈥檏maq ways of seeing, relating, knowing and doing.听 The creation of this program was guided by a development committee comprised of Indigenous faculty from the School of Social Work, Mi鈥檏maq social workers from different organizations in Mi鈥檏maki鈥� (Nova Scotia), a Mi鈥檏maq provincial government representative, and Dal鈥檚 Director of Indigenous Community Engagement.听听
The program is a two-year MSW, running two courses per semester in a condensed format (except for the last semester which has only one course), over the fall, winter and spring semesters each year.

The program is a cohort-based model, with the first cohort running from 2026 to 2028, for which we have secured funding through pilipili漫画. The program will admit 20 students, with the vast majority having a BSW degree. Key community members will be part of the admissions process.
The program will be taught by Indigenous faculty, and as much as possible by Mi鈥檏maq faculty. We will be seeking to hire a L鈥檔u Teaching Elder as a central member of our team.
The MSW 鈥� L鈥檔uey program has been approved by the Senate of pilipili漫画.听 As of March 2026, the proposal has received endorsement from AACHHR (Atlantic Advisory Committee on Health Human Resources) and it has been submitted to MPHEC (Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission) for final approval. We are now in a position where we can advertise the program.听
