PT Matters Research Presentation

In this presentation entitled: Frailty in people experiencing homelessness: a mixed methods study, Jo Dawes will share both her insights of working clinically with people experiencing homelessness and the findings of her PhD research, which explored frailty in this population.
Jo Dawes is a physiotherapist and research fellow at the Collaborative Centre for Inclusion Health, University College London (UCL), UK. She has recently submitted her PhD, which explored frailty among people experiencing homelessness, with a particular focus on the intersections between social exclusion and health inequalities.

Her research has been published in leading journals, including The Lancet Healthy Longevity and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. She has also contributed to research examining the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on people experiencing homelessness and co-authored a book chapter on inclusion health in primary care.

Jo's research aims to improve health and care for people experiencing homelessness and other socially excluded groups. Her current research is focused on end-of-life care for people experiencing homelessness and developing interventions to prevent and manage frailty, including a planned feasibility study adapting an intervention for people experiencing homelessness who are living with mild frailty.
