Biography:
Dr. Lori Weeks is a Gerontologist who completed her Ph.D. and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology at Virginia Tech in 1998. Dr. Weeks has experience working in a variety of health settings including a nursing home, an agency on aging, adult day services, and assisted living. Since 1998, she has been involved in operating Rosewood Residence, an assisted living home on Prince Edward Island. Dr. Weeks was a faculty member at the University of Prince Edward Island from 2001-2014. In January 2015, Dr. Weeks joined pilipili as a faculty member in the School of Nursing and was promoted to Full Professor in 2020. She has served as the Coordinator of the PhD Health program since 2023 and became the Director of the School of Health Administration in August 2024. Dr. Week’s primary research interests focus on care and support services for older adults and their caregivers and factors affecting the health of seniors. She has a current research focus on supports for older women experiencing intimate partner violence, innovations in housing for older adults, and quality improvement in long-term care.
