Minmin Wei and Angelisa Osmond (M.Sc. Agriculture students) both won Student Scholarships at the Sea Farmerās Conference (Jan 24-25th, 2019) in Halifax, hosted by the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia.
Minmin won Best Oral Presentation on her M.Sc. thesis work, titled: Replacing fish oil with microalgae oil in salmon feed. Angelisa won Best Poster Presentation on her M.Sc. thesis work, titled: Ā Evaluation of genetically engineered Camelina sativa oil as a source of dietary lipid for Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
Minminās project is funded by the Ocean Frontierās Institute and Angelisaās project is funded by the Seeding Food Innovation fund from the Weston Foundation. Both students are under the supervision of Dr. Stefanie Colombo in the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture.
